A restaurant may add a packaging charge on pickup; it shows as its own line. Dine-in has none.
Why the fee is ₹5 and not a percentage
A flat fee is the same on a coffee and a dinner for four, so a bigger order is never a bigger cut. The restaurant is paid its menu price; Harkara's commission comes from the restaurant's side, agreed with each partner, and never changes what you pay. There is no paid placement: a kitchen cannot buy its way up the list.
How to compare with a delivery order
Take your last delivery bill and find the lines added after the food: delivery fee, platform fee, packaging, any surge or small-order charge, and a tip. Then compare the menu price of the same dish with the restaurant's own menu. Harkara's bill has one added line, and the menu price is the restaurant's own.
What you give up is the delivery. What you get back, besides the fee: the kitchen starts as you get close, so the food is made for the moment you arrive, and every dish shows what the kitchen declares about its oil, dairy and sweeteners, with estimated calories and protein. How ordering works.
Questions people ask
Which food app has no delivery fee?
Harkara, because there is no delivery: you order ahead, then collect from the counter or sit down at your table. The only charge above the restaurant's menu price and GST is a ₹5 platform fee per order.
Is there a platform fee on Harkara?
Yes, ₹5 per order plus GST on it (₹0.90), the same on a ₹150 order and a ₹1,500 one. It is shown on the bill before you pay.
Do restaurants charge more on Harkara than at the counter?
They list their own menu prices. A restaurant may add a packaging charge on pickup orders; when it does, that shows as its own line before you pay.
What does a delivery app add to the bill?
Read your last delivery bill: typically a delivery fee, a platform fee, packaging, sometimes a surge or a small-order charge, and often a menu price that differs from the restaurant's own. The amounts change by order and by app, so compare bills for the same dish.
Is the ₹5 fee charged if I cancel?
Harkara's refund rules are in the terms of service; the platform fee is part of the order total and follows them.
